Osasuna routs Alaves 3-0 at El Sadar to close out 2025
The Rojillo boss spoke with the media ahead of tomorrow's match
Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci addressed the media ahead of the Mallorca–Osasuna match and said, “We have to go there and play a good game, do everything we need to do, everything we’ve worked on, and that will surely bring us closer to winning. There’s an opponent in front of us, and what’s non-negotiable is giving everything, running more than they do, being intense in duels, because that depends on us. From there, as always, we hope things go well and we isolate ourselves from the standings, the current run, and our form away from home. We’ve analyzed everything and we know the path we need to take.”
The Italian coach also spoke about the importance of earning the team’s first win away from El Sadar. “It would completely change our mindset. We’re focused on starting the game well, because there’s a lot that comes before the result. What we need to do is do things well so the result follows. Not thinking about ‘what if.’ With ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ you don’t make history — that’s what we say in Italian. You have to act well in order to win,” he said.
Regarding Mallorca, Lisci said: “You all know Jagoba very well. It’s a team that’s very dangerous with balls played in from wide areas, with Muriqi’s presence in the box — he’s an important player. They’re intense in second balls and have several patterns. They’re a team that does things well, but when everything is so even, doing things well sometimes isn’t enough. Sometimes you do things less well and win; other times you do them better and lose — that’s football. Mallorca is a tough, complete team.”
On what kind of match to expect, he added: “Given both teams’ situations, I think it will be a pretty tight game. We’re the two best teams in the league on set pieces, so set pieces will play a very important role. We have to take care of every detail because these are games decided by small things — by staying alert on second balls and taking advantage of our moment, because both teams will have theirs.”
